Brits, Americans, Spaniards, Indians and other curious tourists can claim that they've seen and experienced the wonderful world of the Danube Delta. If you are not one of those people and also happen to be Romanian, you should hide under a rock; it's really... a shame.
Or you could redeem yourself by immediately looking into visiting the place. But, regardless how well you google or how reliable your friends are, you still run a chance of being disappointed when you book a fast weekend destination through images and words only.
So here we are, to your rescue, with a tip we just can't keep as a secret! We were lucky to run into the king of highways himself (highway=any body of Danube/Black Sea water), a fun guy with a fast boat, an encyclopedia of local facts and figures, water smart and resourceful when it comes to knowing the most hidden canals, the best place to lunch, the latest gossip on Vantu's water adventures, and the names of any moving creature that populates the environment.
His name is Mihai Banica and you should call him a few days in advance, before you're ready to head into the Danube Delta. He can suggest logging, arrange transportation and be a one of the best guides ever.
As for our suggestions, here are some key words: Sfantu Gheorghe, the point where the Danube meets the Black Sea, Crisan, Karma resto, Nebunu canal, Lungu lake, "starc cenusiu", "la indianu'".
