We walk around in circles in downtown Bucharest, we slalom around eateries that undermine our silhouettes, we can’t always afford dinner at Benihana, and we also want a happening atmosphere… but not of the fast-food variety. Now that we got that out of the way, some of us know that in Piata Romana, next to the Triumf Beergarten, there’s a great pretzel shop, but that won’t suffice for a lunch. We might also know the spots for power lunches and people watching (or no people watching at all, if we count the health nut spots in a certain area of the Marriott), but all in all, we can always get some use out of a great lunch place. We’ve got it. Across from the great Yellow Bar, there’s Edgar’s Pub.
The word goes around about the “Pizza Edgar’s”, and it’s about how delicious it is, with a thin and crispy crust, and serving at least two hungry mouths. Curious?
“Pizza Edgar’s” has mozzarella, pepperoni, ham, bell peppers that add the perfect “green”, mushrooms and… one olive for each of the pre-cut eight slices. A visual symmetry which is only equaled by the taste, all for 130,000 Lei.
The pub’s interior has some misleading Buddha Bar VI sounds, but that’s only true up to the point where the bartender gets pissed off and decides the commencement of the club repertoire. The semi-darkness attracts some lovebirds, who seduced by a pretty good wine menu, more often than not eat their pizza cold. But fear not, the atmosphere is always hot and alive, so much so that it’s often hard to get a seat. So bring a friend or a lover (if you have one), reserve a table and take advantage of the cute little Carturesti next door. If you happen to be eating your pizza alone, a good book makes for a great partner, as well.
